Solo, C Java (ANTARA) - Chairman of the 2022 Indonesia ASEAN Para Games Organizing Committee (INASPOC) Gibran Rakabuming Raka has said that some state-owned enterprises (SOEs/BUMNs) are ready to sponsor the games scheduled for August this year.

"Yesterday, I met Mr. Thohir (SOEs Minister Erick Thohir) and Mr. Hary Tanoe (media tycoon Hary Tanoesoedibjo)," Raka, who is also the mayor of Solo, informed on Friday.

During the meeting, he confirmed that SOEs, namely state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura, state electricity firm PLN, and state-owned telecommunication provider Telkom, are ready to sponsor the games.

"Next Monday, there will be a meeting again, but it is confirmed that (the SOEs) are definitely ready to help," he said.

An agreement has also been reached with Tanoesoedibjo regarding broadcasting rights, Raka informed. He said that if sponsorships are still lacking, the committee will search for more sponsors.

"Our budget for the ASEAN Para Games is minimal, only Rp375 billion. Later, (if the budget is not enough) sponsors will be sought, (as) there will be private companies and state-owned enterprises," he added.

Earlier, together with the relevant ministries, a number of preparations for the ASEAN Para Games 2022 were made by the Solo (Surakarta) city government, which will host the games.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry is also ensuring the readiness of health services for the athletes.
