Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin will lead the Indonesian Government until July 2, 2022, based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 9 of 2022 on the Assignment of the Vice President to Carry out Presidential Duties.

"To stipulate, first, to assign the vice president to carry out the daily duties of the president in accordance with the provisions of the laws and regulations during the president's state visit to Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates on June 26 until July 2, 2022, or until the date of arriving back in the country," according to the stipulation stated in the Presidential Decree as accessed from the State Secretariat's website on Tuesday.

The purpose of the vice president conducting the daily tasks of the president is stipulated in the Presidential Decree to maintain the government's work in the country during President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) visit to those countries as mentioned above.

"Secondly, if within the assignment period, it is necessary to immediately determine a new policy, the vice president, as the executor of the president's duties, must first consult and seek approval from the president," the Presidential Decree stated.

The third point of the Presidential Decree is that after the president is back in the country, the assignment ends and the vice president immediately reports the result of his task to the president.

The Presidential Decree is effective from the date of stipulation, which is June 24, 2022.
