Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA) - Polarization among members of the public should no longer arise during the 2024 Elections, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated.

"Polarization must no longer occur during the 2024 Presidential Elections, Legislative Elections, and Simultaneous Regional Head Elections," Prabowo noted during the commemoration of Bhayangkara's 76th Anniversary at the Semarang Police Academy, Tuesday.

The 2019 elections had led to the problem of polarization or divided communities that is being faced until today, the police chief pointed out.

"This is very dangerous for Indonesia's diversity and progress," he cautioned.

Prabowo emphasized that polarization should no longer occur during the 2024 elections, as social conflicts and divisions would be a setback for the Indonesian nation.

Earlier, President Joko Widodo stated that the National Police still has to deal with several national agendas that needed security support in future.

He stressed that the National Police should oversee the implementation of the 2024 General Elections.

"You have to anticipate well. Give maximum support for security and social security, so that this democratic fiesta (general elections) runs well," he stated.

Commemoration of the National Police's 76th Anniversary at the Semarang Police Academy was themed, "Precise Police Support Economic Recovery and Structural Reforms to Realize a Resilient Indonesia. Resilient Indonesia - A Growing Indonesia."

The commemoration ceremony held in Semarang was also attended by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
