It is quite challenging.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia expressed belief that the target to issue 100 thousand Single Business Number/Business Identification Number (NIB) in one day could solely be achieved by cooperating with regional governments.

"I am confident that we can realize it, provided there must be cooperation among the district heads, mayors, governors, and ministries," he remarked after attending the event for handing of NIBs to 2,500 Individual Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) actors here on Wednesday.

On the occasion, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) set a new target for the minister to increase the issuance of NIB, from the current targeted seven thousand per day to 100 thousand NIBs a day.

Earlier, the target had also been raised, from two thousand each day to seven thousand issued NIBs per day.

“It is quite challenging,” Lahadalia remarked.

Hence, he stated that collaboration with the regional governments was deemed crucial to support the efforts to advance MSEs from the informal sector to the formal sector since the local governments possess most knowledge about the mapping of the distribution and potential of MSEs.

“(Meanwhile), we (the Investment Ministry) prepare a fast and efficient application (for the NIB issuance)," he remarked.

Later, the ministry will conduct a roadshow to 20 cities to disseminate NIB-related information.

The Investment Ministry will also collaborate with the Cooperatives and SMEs Ministry as well as the State-owned Enterprises Ministry to increase the issuance of NIB.

“The program is part of the implementation of the Job Creation Act, especially the Online Single Submission (OSS),” the minister remarked

He noted that through the OSS system, business permits, halal certificates, and Indonesian National Standard (SNI) certificates can be obtained by the business actors for free.

A risk-based OSS was inaugurated by President Jokowi in August 2021 as the implementation of Law Number 11 of 2020 on Job Creation as well as Government Regulation Number 5 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Risk-Based Business Licensing.

According to the Investment Ministry's data, as of July 13, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB, UTC+7), some 1,510,387 NIBs had been issued through the OSS system across Indonesia.
