Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has carried out various efforts to support businesswomen through its entrepreneurship strengthening program, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, has said.

The government has held upskilling and entrepreneurship programs in sectors that many businesswomen are interested in, she informed during a public discussion on “Women Great, Indonesia Prosper” here on Thursday.

Businesswomen are also being provided business management training, capital facilities, and business protection facilities.

They are also being given business assistance so that they can become competitive in the digital era, she added.

"Business to digital platform assistance is carried out to help businesswomen to adapt to technology utilization and become ready to compete in the digital era," the minister explained.

She said she expects the economic empowerment programs for women to improve the prosperity of women and their families.

In addition, economically empowered women can avoid violence and discrimination as well as protect their children from exploitative practices and marriage, which are often seen as solutions to break free from poverty, she added.

Moreover, empowered women are considered to be capable of increasing the state's revenue and determining the nation's development.

Specifically, a high level of participation from the women workforce will bring significant benefits to the gross domestic product (GDP), Puspayoga highlighted.

During the event, the minister also said that the advancement of digital technology in the form of digital ecosystem growth has enabled women to start businesses.

"As part of the technological advancement, the digital ecosystem has become one of the means to answer the hesitance of women who wish to start their businesses," she elaborated.

The era of digitalization has given birth to new opportunities that can be utilized to improve the financial inclusion of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) managed by women, she noted.
