Those various discussion topics show that digitalization is a pillar to realize Advanced Indonesia (by 2045).Jakarta (ANTARA) - Building a digital-ready society in Indonesia is highly necessary to optimize the benefits of digital economy and finance to realize the Advanced Indonesia vision by 2045, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said.
The establishment of a digital-ready society can be carried out by improving literacy, accessibility, skills, and employment, he said at the Leaders’ Insight session of the 2022 Indonesian Digital Financial Economics Festival (FEKDI), according to a statement received here on Friday.
To realize uniform and fair connectivity for the community, the Indonesian government is continuing to strive to provide better quality and coverage of digital services.
The government has also realized the importance of strengthening cooperation and seeking support from the private sector for ensuring digital access across the country.
"In addition, the government has continued to develop digital skills (of the community) by providing communication and informatics technology scholarships through the Digital Talent Scholarship program," the coordinating minister noted.
The implementation of the 2022 FEKDI, which was initiated by Bank Indonesia and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, was also part of efforts to expedite digitalization in Indonesia.
It was organized to bring various financial stakeholders together to collaborate on advancing digital finance in Indonesia.

The collaboration was strengthened by a joint commitment through the launch of the National Digital Economy and Finance Movement.
In addition, the challenges and opportunities regarding the rollout of digital currency, cross-border payments, as well as digital innovation acceleration were also discussed at the 2022 FEKDI.
“Those various discussion topics show that digitalization is a pillar to realize Advanced Indonesia (by 2045),” Hartarto said.
The festival also provided a platform to showcase the efforts and policies that have been implemented by the government to encourage the development of an inclusive digital economy and finance sector to expedite national economic recovery, he added.
The policies highlighted at the festival included the utilization of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) as well as the use of virtual reality technology in vocational education and training.
As a payment gateway, the QRIS could facilitate the implementation of domestic and cross-border transactions, Hartarto said.
“To make the digital transformation a success, community support and readiness are highly required. Not only to minimize the impact of (technological) disruption, but it also aims to be able to optimize the benefits from the development of digital technology,” he added.
He also lauded the implementation of the festival, which managed to draw about one thousand offline participants and 10 thousand online participants, from July 11–15, 2022.
He said he expected the implementation of the 2022 FEKDI, which was a side event of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency, to illustrate the progress of the digital economy and finance sector’s development as well as become a forum to boost regional and global cooperation.
