...thus public trust in the new industry (the digital economy) can be maintained.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Informatics Ministry is committed to promoting digital economy literacy through the National Digital Literacy Movement (GLDN) so that people can understand the importance of data privacy in the digital space.

"It is because the people are expected to become capable of conducting any digital economic activity, thus the digitalization era can be a golden opportunity for all of us," Coordinator for Digital Literacy at the ministry Rizki Amelia said on Friday.

Indonesia’s economic growth has currently improved thanks to access to an increasingly inclusive digital economy, she noted.

According to data provided by Bank Indonesia (BI), the value of electronic money transactions in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 42.06 percent, while the value of digital banking transactions grew 34.9 percent compared to 2021.

"The rapid economic growth in Indonesia, which encourages financial inclusion, must be accompanied by various public education attempts to ensure that consumer protection is implemented well, thus public trust in the new industry (the digital economy) can be maintained," she said.

Indonesia is also encouraging equal access to digital economy literacy at various international forums.

Amelia said that during the Indonesian G20 presidency, the ministry, which is chairing the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG), has proposed a comprehensive discussion of various issues regarding the digital economy, including customers’ data protection.

The DEWG is one of the working groups of the G20 that focuses on issues related to the digital economy and highlights the role of digital transformation on economic and social growth.

Amelia invited all Indonesian people to actively participate in the implementation of GLDN so that they can gain a good understanding of the digital economy as well as the basic aspects of the digital space.

Thus, the vision of accelerating digital transformation for Golden Indonesia 2045 can be realized according to the target.

According to the Communication and Informatics Ministry, since 2021, around 14.5 million people have taken part in the GLDN.
