We expect that we can provide education on the importance of following digital development, government application understanding, and others.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Information Ministry (Kemenkominfo) and the Home Affairs Ministry's Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM Kemendagri) have organized digital literacy training for state civil apparatus (ASN) in East Java.
"The digital literacy activity for the government sector aims to improve ASN's digital world understanding," Kemenkominfo's informatics empowerment director, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, said in a statement released on Wednesday.
"This activity is done to improve ASN's competency in the digital field," he added.
The activity is important to complement the knowledge and skills of ASN in East Java in the face of rapid digital development.
"We expect that we can provide education on the importance of following digital development, government application understanding, and others," he said.
"In this opportunity, we will convey technical matters related to digital security and digital skills," he added.

Meanwhile, head of the Kemendagri’s Functional and Technical Competence Development Center, Dian Andi Permana, said that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed how the ASN serve the people.
"Currently, we are not yet free from COVID-19. This has become a challenge for us," he said.
"We cannot meet face-to-face, but the question is: how can we still serve the people? For that, we need to understand application and technology," he added.
According to East Java Deputy Governor Emi Elistianto Dardak, building an understanding of digital literacy among ASN is necessary to improve their productivity.
"We have to be able to use government application to work in a paperless manner and find the balance to be able to become flexible in working," he said.
He underlined the importance of digital literacy for utilizing applications that people use every day to facilitate work.
"Digital literacy is not a problem of habit, but how we manage work using digital applications," he added.
