Thus, it is expected that the attempt will increase the social forestry sector’s contribution later in maintaining the ecology, according to the FoLU Net Sink target for 2030.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Environment and Forestry Ministry is optimizing legal permit provision for social forestry with the aim of covering 12.7 million hectares by 2028 to achieve the Forestry and Other Land Use (FoLU) Net Sink 2030 target.

After realizing the legal permit provision target by 2028, the ministry will support the establishment of 45,200 social forestry business groups (KUPS) until 2030, Director of Social Forestry Business Development at the ministry Catur Endah said during the ‘Dissemination of Indonesia's FoLU Net Sink 2030,’ which was accessed online from here on Monday.

The ministry will also seek to arrange 25 thousand additional assistants for the KUPS by 2030.

Furthermore, it will establish a social forestry-based integrated area in at least one district per province as well as carry out thematic business development in at least one location in each province.

"Thus, it is expected that the attempt will increase the social forestry sector’s contribution later in maintaining the ecology according to the FoLU Net Sink target for 2030," Endah said.

According to ministry data, as of August 1, 2022, a total of 7,650 social forestry permits have been issued to around 1,113,234 families for 5,030,736.09 hectares of land.

In addition, 571,053.42 hectares of land has been granted to Forestry Partnership Acknowledgement and Protection (KULIN KK) permit holders, while the remaining 34,789.79 hectares are being used by the Social Forestry Forest Utilization Permit (IPHPS) holders.

At the same event, director general of sustainable forest management at the ministry, Agus Justianto, said that his office expects the regional governments will help achieve the 2030 FoLU Net Sink target by establishing supporting development policies.
