Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Health Ministry's spokesperson, Mohammad Syahril, is sanguine about public literacy in the health sector increasing alongside efforts to drive technological transformation being intensively conducted both by the government and the private sector.

"We want public literacy in the health sector to emerge with a health technology transformation system to help the public become smarter in accessing health information," Syahril stated here, Wednesday.

To this end, the presence of various digital platforms should be able to offer health education to the public by providing credible information and getting rid of false or hoax information, he affirmed.

Meanwhile, President Director of the Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Lies Dina Liastuti, stated that the benefits of technology will help the public to conduct health consultations with doctors and also to spread awareness to the general public about maintaining health.

"We must be able to promote health campaigns through experts to build people's trust regarding the information. We hope that many people would thereafter start to maintain their health in an effort to prevent several diseases," Liastuti affirmed.

She noted that promoting health campaigns can help people to protect themselves from several diseases, such as heart ailments and diabetes. Through the campaign, people would gain an understanding of preventive measures from an early age.

Liastuti affirmed that the dissemination of health information through digital platforms also allowed the public to continuously learn owing to the ease of access.

She also lauded the digital platform for boosting public literacy in the health sector by cooperating with accurate and reliable sources of information, including government hospitals, such as RSCM and other private hospitals.

"We are very grateful. We really want to realize the spirit of 'Recover Together, Recover Stronger.' We want all of us to be healthy with correct information that can be accessed through multiple platforms," she affirmed.
