Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The East Aceh District Police have named four suspects in a case involving the smuggling of locally assembled guns and eight bullets into a correctional facility in East Aceh.

The four suspects comprise two inmates and two correctional facility visitors, chief of the East Aceh District Police, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Andy Rahmansyah, said on Friday.

"The two inmates named suspects (in the case) have been identified by their initials as H and M, while the correctional facility visitors have been identified by their initials as IR and FA," he informed.

H and M are suspected of controlling and keeping the firearms, while IR and FA, who are women, are suspected of smuggling the firearms into the correctional facility, he said.

Based on the results of an investigation, FA reportedly smuggled the firearms into the correctional facility by hiding them in a sensitive part of her body.

"The suspect, FA, is the girlfriend of M and IR is the wife of H. They managed to smuggle the firearms although correctional facility officers had checked them earlier," he said.

The firearms were passed on to H and M hid them later, he added.

If found guilty, the suspects face a life sentence or a maximum of 20 years in jail.

Investigators are trying to determine where the suspects obtained the firearms from, he said.
