Most of them (modified vehicles) are not used to transport (basic) commodities, but to bring misused (subsidized) fuel.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif has said that his ministry supports the use of integrated social welfare data (DTKS) for distributing subsidized fuel and determining who can purchase it.

“Through the data, direct assistance can be allocated more precisely," he explained during a working meeting with Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR) here on Wednesday.

The use of the data requires coordination with relevant agencies, he said.

In addition to using the DTKS, the government is implementing various restrictions to control the consumption of subsidized fuel, including by digitalizing gas stations in collaboration with the Traffic Corps of the National Police to obtain data on vehicles.

The minister said that officers can find information regarding the volume capacity of each vehicle in the vehicle ownership document (BPKB) and vehicle registration certificate (STNK).

Through the information, it can be determined which vehicle has been modified, for instance, whether the capacity of the vehicle has been upgraded from 60 liters to 400 liters, he explained.

“Most of them (modified vehicles) are not used to transport (basic) commodities, but to bring misused (subsidized) fuel,” Tasrif added.

Furthermore, he said he expected the police to intensify inspections to prevent or uncover the misuse of subsidized fuel, as well as arrest perpetrators.

Currently, the government is reviewing the adjustment of the price of subsidized fuel and calculating the impact of the policy on inflation.

Member of Commission VII of DPR, Mukhtarudin, has asked the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry to establish a task force to supervise the distribution of subsidized fuel so that it can be disbursed well according to the target.
