We are collaborating with various universities to ensure the availability of policy makers in the digital field
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Information Ministry has urged universities to help prepare national digital talents as one of the steps for expediting digital transformation.

"We are collaborating with various universities to ensure the availability of policy makers in the digital field," Communication and Information Minister Johnny G. Plate informed in a press statement issued on Saturday.

While attending the UPH Festival in Tangerang, Banten, on Friday, he said that when the government develops smart city programs, there should be digital policy makers in those cities.

Universities can also take part in providing digital policy training to startups.

An example of ongoing synergy between the government and universities is the Digital Leadership Academy (DLA), which is offering advanced digital training to prepare digital policy makers.

For the program, the ministry is cooperating with eight international universities: Tsinghua University, National University of Singapore, Oxford University, Cambridge University, Imperial College London, Harvard Kennedy School, Cornell University, and MIT.

Minister Plate urged lecturers, office heads, district heads, mayors, and regional secretaries to take part in DLA as digital masters and mentors.

The government has also launched the Digital Literacy National Movement to offer basic level training as well as the Digital Talent Scholarship to offer intermediate level digital training.

The Digital Talent Scholarship is open to high-school graduates, university students, and fresh graduates.

The minister asked university students to participate in the digital training that it has prepared so that they do not have to solely depend on the skills based on the university majors that they took.

"Join it so that we can produce and prepare digital talents," he said.

Further, the government is creating digital trainings to create domestic digital expert staff. It is seeking to create a digital world filled with local digital talents in Indonesia.
