In this way, there will be no miss, as we (does not want the policy to) benefit only ojek drivers and anger the ojek users or vice versa. We will invite everyone to speak
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has instructed government officials to take into account inputs and aspirations of residents to determine the price policy for online-based motorcycle taxis (ojek), according to Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi.

"The president instructs us to hear the aspirations of people, particularly ojek users and drivers," Sumadi stated at the Presidential Palace complex here, Monday.

The president has called for prudently formulating the standard fee for ojek by involving relevant stakeholders to ensure all parties will benefit from the new policy, he remarked.

"In this way, there will be no miss, as we (does not want the policy to) benefit only ojek drivers and anger the ojek users or vice versa. We will invite everyone to speak," the minister affirmed.

Sumadi spoke of having instructed the ministry's director general of land transportation, Hendro Sugiatno, to organize a roadshow to receive inputs from relevant stakeholders.

Apart from consulting the police over the proposed plan, the ministry had also organized various surveys to determine the new price policy for motorcycle taxis, he added.

"We have received inputs from all. Stakeholders have put forth their aspirations, and the police had also presented inputs to us about the ojek pricing policy," the minister stated.

He added that the ministry will require another week to complete consultations with all stakeholders.

Earlier, on Sunday (August 28), the ministry delayed the implementation of the new pricing policy for online-based motorcycle taxis to seek more inputs about the planned policy.

The policy adoption delay was the second following the earlier delay of 25 days on August 4, the day of the ministry's regulation enactment.

"The decision to delay (the adoption) takes into account various situations and conditions of the public. Moreover, the delay is necessary (for us) to receive more inputs from stakeholders and conduct more research for better policy," the ministry's spokesperson, Adita Irawati, stated on Sunday.
