"We are committed to making the licensing process a success without leaving the risks that we have to take care of. It is related to transportation safety aspects," Secretary General of the Transportation Ministry Novie Riyanto stated while opening the PPB Performance Assessment Pick Test event here on Friday.
Riyanto said that the ministry was one of the central government agencies selected for the implementation of PPB performance appraisal by an assessment team from the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and the Cabinet Secretariat.
The acceleration efforts are expected to increase investment, open up extensive job opportunities, and increase the nation's competitiveness.
"This is an honor, and we will listen to all recommendations from the assessment team. We will use this assessment as an opportunity to improve licensing services in the future,” he remarked.
He said efforts have been made to improve licensing services of the ministry, including by integrating existing licensing services in each work unit through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system.
Meanwhile, other efforts are to deregulate licensing and bureaucracy, utilize integrated information technology, and continue to develop professional human resources.
On the same occasion, Deputy for Investment Cooperation of the Investment Ministry/BKPM Riyatno said that the picking test activity was the last stage of a series of PPB performance assessments for ministries and agencies and regional governments.
"We hope that the Transportation Ministry would provide the best evidence and get the best value," Riyatno stated.
Several aspects that will be assessed in the picking test are the implementation of business licensing, simplification of sector business licensing, and improvement of the investment climate.
The test will also include interviews with business actors in the transportation sector having direct experience in managing permits.
Based on data from the Center for Sustainable Transportation Management (PPTB) of the ministry, seven licensing application systems have been integrated with the OSS system, comprising the Land and Multimodal Online Licensing System (SPIONAM) application, Information and Registration Applications for River Lake and Crossing Transportation (Air-SDP), Special Chartered Transportation (ASK) Online, Marine Transportation Traffic Management Information System (SIMLALA), E-Licensing, Air Transport Integrated Licensing System (SIPTAU), and General Railway Facilities Permit.
Meanwhile, one application that is still in the integration process is the Integrated Sea Transportation Electronic System (SEHATI) application.
