Sea is an important medium to realize equitable healthcare, education, and economic development of the Indonesian nation and achieve our glory as a maritime nationJakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) Chief of Staff Yudo Margono stated that the Indonesian seas are an essential medium to achieve equitable development in various aspects of the maritime Indonesian nation.
"Sea is an important medium to realize equitable healthcare, education, and economic development of the Indonesian nation and achieve our glory as a maritime nation," Margono stated while serving as inspector of the Indonesian Navy 77th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony here, Monday.
He said that fiber optic cables spanned hundreds of kilometers in the seabed to become the backbone of the digital economy, which has been vital in the national economic development.
"We could also not neglect contributions of fishery and marine tourism resources and other maritime natural resources. These prove that the maritime sector plays an important role in Indonesia's development and progress," the chief of staff noted.

Margono affirmed that the Indonesian nation would not abandon the national sea as the source of life that allows the nation to survive and thrive.
"As a maritime nation, the sea will always be the vein of the Indonesian nation," he affirmed.
He also ensured that the Navy would exert all-out efforts to protect the nation's seas to ensure security in the marine economic distribution line, navigation safety, and equal access to marine resources.

"All of those aspects need (support from) the Indonesian Navy that has formidable shock, maneuvering, and hitting power, as well as operational reach covering all parts of the jurisdiction of the Indonesian seas," the chief of staff remarked.
The Navy's anniversary commemoration ceremony was the first to take place after two years since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Navy troops defile, hostage rescue and karate demonstrations, troop company chants and colossal dance performances, and awarding of Navy awards and decorations are some events taking place during the Navy's anniversary commemoration ceremony.
