Jakarta (ANTARA) - Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan has been conferred with the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship by the Singapore government for his contribution to promoting bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
"On behalf of Indonesia and Jakarta, thank you for this honor," he posted on his personal Instagram account @aniesbaswedan on Wednesday



Baswedan is the 72nd dignitary to be awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship.

"This fellowship is a large responsibility. We hope we could continue to collaborate to strengthen relations between Singapore and Indonesia, particularly Jakarta," he said.



Baswedan is expected to be in Singapore until September 15, 2022, at the invitation of the fellowship, the Singaporean Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a written statement.



During his stay, Baswedan is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, and Transportation Minister S. Iswaran.

The Jakarta Governor is also expected to attend a banquet with Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Education Minister Chan Chun Sing, and Health Minister Ong Ye Kung.



The chairperson of the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship (LKYEF) will also host a banquet in honor of Baswedan.



In addition, the Jakarta Governor is scheduled to meet with several officials of the Singapore Economic Development Board and deliver a general lecture at the Lee Kuan Yew Public Policy School.



The LKYEF was established in 1991 Since then, it has invited prominent figures to Singapore.
