"The community has just received certificates of land redistribution from the agrarian reforms objects (TORA). It has been 33 years since people have been waiting for legal certainty and justice because, on the land they occupy and work on, they cannot obtain it legally," Tjahjanto explained.
He expressed gratitude for the cooperation between the local government, the Agrarian Reform Task Force (GTRA), and the community due to which BPN was able to realize the community's aspiration to attain legal certainty over their lands.
"The 762 land (certificates), (which means) 762 lots, were distributed to 656 families. I also advised the community to fulfill the responsibility to take care of the redistributed land for economic benefits," he remarked.
He explained that the certificate stipulates the landowner's name, and in order to keep it safe, he urged certificate holders to photocopy the document.
"I would like to advise that the certificate must be kept properly. Later, when you get home, the original certificate should be photocopied and the copy will be stored in a different (safer) place," he urged while adding that the action is aimed at anticipating the impact of losing them due to natural disaster events.
He said, owners should save the original certificate or the copy to maintain their land legality.
"The copy should be inserted in a plastic (file). What is the purpose? The goal is that if heavy rain occurs that (damages or obliterates) the certificate, then the copy of the certificate can be taken to the BPN office to request for a (new) original certificate," the minister concluded.
