"This is the real paradigm change because the main priority will be the pedestrian, while cars and personal vehicles will be placed last on the priority level," Sarosa stated in an online seminar observed here, Saturday.
Sarosa explained that an integrated and continuous pedestrian connectivity system, crossing various levels of buildings, would be developed in Nusantara City.
Mobility development in the new capital will prioritize pedestrians and non-motor vehicles, such as bicycles, and means of public transportation, he stated.
The expert team coordinator remarked that private motor vehicles will be reduced in the new capital in a bid to achieve an environmentally friendly city.

Earlier, the transportation ministry was readying the development plan for a smart, integrated, and environmentally friendly transportation system in the new capital, with areas carved from the districts of North Penajam Paser and Kutai Kartanegara in East Kalimantan.
President Joko Widodo also underlined the main goal of the new capital development to build a new smart city that can compete at the global level in a bid to bolster transformation into an innovation-, technology-, and green economy-based country.
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said that development of the transportation system in the new capital is essential to ensure accessibility and mobility of humans and goods in Nusantara City.
Moreover, according to the new capital masterplan, as per Appendix II of Law No. 3 of 2022 on the New Capital, the new capital will be developed by combining three urban concepts of forest city, sponge city, and smart city.
The development of Nusantara will prioritize nature, technology, and environmental sustainability. The new capital planning is also conducted through sustainable means to balance natural ecology, developed community, and a harmonious social system.
