They were dishonorably discharged following a code of ethics trial at the West Papua Provincial Police Headquarters on Friday, chief of the public relations division of the West Papua Provincial Police, Senior Commissioner Adam Erwindi, informed.

"The two, identified by their initials as 2nd Brigadier YFP and 2nd Brigadier YMB, were declared (guilty of) committing disgraceful deeds, which led to their dishonorable discharge from the Indonesian police force," he said.
The code of ethics trial was held after they were questioned and detained for two days at the West Papua Provincial Police's detention house, he added.
They appealed against their dishonorable discharge after the chief of the profession and security section of the West Papua Provincial Police, Senior Commissioner Bulang Bayu Samudra, who led the code of ethics trial, read out the decision.

"They said they will appeal against the decision reached at the code of ethics trial so we are waiting for the other legal efforts they will pursue," he added.
The two officers from the Traffic Directorate of the West Papua Provincial Police have gone viral on social media since October 5, 2022, after licking a cake that the West Papua Provincial Police intended to present to the Kasuari Regional Military Command on TNI's 77th anniversary.
Chief of the West Papua Provincial Police, Inspector General Daniel Tahi Monang Silitonga, on October 5 offered an open apology to the chief of the Kasuari Regional Military Command and TNI members across Indonesia over the incident.
