Thus, with the innovation models, it (the poverty alleviation) is expected to be accelerated.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Home Affairs Ministry designated six regions to pilot three priority innovations on taxes and levies collection, single data utilization for poverty alleviation, and village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) development to improve the community’s welfare.

"The three priority innovations are implemented in six regions, namely the Tanimbar Islands, Anambas Islands, Kapuas Hulu, South Nias, Kupang, and Sorong," Head of the ministry’s Agency for Domestic Policy Strategy (BSKDN) Eko Prasetyanto informed in a press release on Sunday.

The innovations are the ministry’s attempts to expedite the development of frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) areas.

He noted that taxes and levies collection are still the main income sources of both state budget (APBN) and the regional budget (APBD).

Regarding the BUMDes, it was recorded that only around 7,000 BUMDes have become legal entities throughout 75,961 villages in Indonesia.

Furthermore, there were also disparities on the poverty reduction in each region throughout Indonesia, according to the data in March 2022.

"Of course, there are regions with poverty rates below the national average, but there are also those with (poverty ratesabove (the national average). Thus, with the innovation models, it (the poverty alleviation) is expected to be accelerated," Prasetyanto remarked.

He has continued that the attempts require close cooperation, both from the central, regional, and village governments as well as academics, businessmen, media, and community.

Head of the Center for Regional Innovation Research and Development at the Home Affairs Ministry Aferi Syamsidar said that the first step to implement the pilot project of the innovations was an identification process.

In this step, the BSKDN will study various breakthroughs implemented in several reference areas.

Syamsidar noted that Yogyakarta, Sumedang, Depok, Palembang, and Surabaya become the references for the implementation of taxes and levies collection.

Meanwhile, Kulonprogo, Banyuwangi, Situbondo, Toba, Berau, and Palembang are the references for the single data utilization for poverty reduction.

In addition, Denpasar and Toba are the references for BUMDes development.

After the identification process, the BSKDN will conduct innovation engineering by creating a sharing Apps as well as implementing the innovation models.

"During this step, we will also provide technical guidance to the regional (innovation) facilitators as well as carry out monitoring and evaluation," Syamsidar added.
