Head of the South Sulawesi Health Office, Rosmini Pandin, said here on Monday that her office needs directions from IDAI regarding what it needs to focus on before issuing a circular to 24 districts and cities in the province.
"This disease attacks children. Thus, we need further coordination with IDAI to find out what causes it and what we have to do as an anticipatory step before we distribute the circular to all health offices in South Sulawesi," she expounded.
She informed that even though the circular has not been distributed, her office has continued to coordinate with the health offices in 24 districts and cities in the province on identifying the symptoms of the disease and reporting if they detect those symptoms.
The symptoms of the disease include the symptoms of acute kidney disorder, such as a reduction in urine or lack of urine.
Parents have been asked to remain alert for symptoms such as vomiting, cough, and cold, which present one–two weeks before the acute kidney disorder.
"Today, I continue to maintain communication with IDAI to get the latest correct information. Hopefully, there will be instructions soon so that we can immediately move to anticipate," she affirmed.
Earlier, the head of the communication and public service bureau at the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, had said that the ministry has formed a team to investigate mysterious acute kidney disorder cases among children in Indonesia.
"The Ministry of Health has formed a team consisting of (representatives from) IDAI and Ciptomangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) to investigate and handle mysterious acute kidney disorder cases," she informed here on October 13, 2022.
The Directorate General of Health Service at the ministry has issued the Decree of Director General of Health Service Number HK.02.92/I/3305/2022 concerning the clinical management of atypical progressive acute kidney disorder.
