Hopefully, when he arrives in Sidoarjo, he will be completely recovered.
Malang, E Java (ANTARA) - A victim of the Kanjuruhan stampede, who was treated at the Kanjuruhan Regional General Hospital, Malang District, East Java Province, for about a month, was allowed to return home.

Head of Malang District M. Sanusi stated here on Wednesday that his side had coordinated with the Sidoarjo district government for further treatment of the victim.

"Later, (the one responsible) to continue the treatment (of the victim) is the Sidoarjo District Health Office. I have telephonically contacted the head of Sidoarjo District (Ahmad Muhdlor Ali) about this," he stated.

He noted that the victim was Vicky Hermansyah, 20, a resident of Kejambi Village, Porong Sub-district, Sidoarjo District, East Java Province.

"It has been coordinated with the Sidoarjo District Health Office and the local puskesmas (community health center). Thus, later, when he (the victim) arrives in Sidoarjo, he will be received by the local puskesmas and then escorted to their home," the district head remarked.

President Director of Kanjuruhan Regional General Hospital Bobi Prabowo said the patient had suffered a severe brain injury that necessitated treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for two weeks.

The victim was in coma when he was admitted to the hospital and received intensive care right away.

The hospital president director recalled that the victim suffered a severe brain injury due to hypoxia that led to his body tissues not functioning normally.

"Thank God, Vicky (Hermansyah) was able to survive, and his condition gradually improved. Hopefully, when he arrives in Sidoarjo, he will have completely recovered," he added.

However, he noted that recovery of the patient suffering from the brain condition after experiencing hypoxia usually took some time.

"It is hard to predict how long the recovery will take in such a case. It could take between three and six months for a complete recovery," he added.

The Kanjuruhan stampede occurred on October 1, 2022. The incident claimed 135 lives. In addition, hundreds of people reportedly suffered from minor and severe injuries.
