Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Social Affairs Ministry is implementing an integrated poverty mitigation program, which involves activities ranging from clean water installations to the establishment of community centers, in the Kalibiru area of Cilincing, Central Jakarta.

“This program is a series of activities to address poverty. It is our collective task to do activities that benefit the community," Director General of Social Rehabilitation at the ministry Pepen Nazarudin said here on Thursday.

The “Social Harmony and Economic Strengthening” program is a follow-up to a meeting between Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini and locals at the Al Hidayah Cilincing Mosque on November 1, 2022.

Acting director general of social protection and security, Robben Rico, and director of social protection for victims of non-natural social disasters, Mira Riyati Kurniasih, said that they will beautify Kalibaru Village and make it clean and tidy.

The village was chosen as a pilot project because its residents had complained about the lack of clean water for their daily needs. They had also committed to collaborating on implementing good changes in the future.

The ministry is planning to conduct a pilot project in Cilincing through some activities, including the Integrated Welfare House (RST).

It will also conduct social harmony development by providing clean water from drilled wells in the area to meet the clean water needs of the residents.

"We are also strengthening the economy through developing community businesses in the form of anchovies, which are processed into ready-to-eat food," he informed.

The ministry has also built a community center as a meeting hall that can support fishermen's activities.

Rico said that the entire program was carried out with the support of all work units at the ministry.

For implementing the program, he also tapped into social pillars, such as Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana), Family Hope Program (PKH) facilitators, and Peace Pioneers.

They helped record and update the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS). The Tagana and Family Hope Program facilitators assisted with the assessment.

To reignite the spirit of collaboration, which has begun to diminish in metropolitan areas, he appealed for all these activities to be conducted together.
