Jambi (ANTARA) - The Law and Human Rights Ministry recently established another immigration office in Bungo District, Jambi Province, to offer passport-making services to people in the area.

"We have surveyed locations in Bungo District to build an immigration office there to (offer) passport-making service, so that people, who will apply for passports, no longer need to go to Jambi City," Head of Jambi Office of the Law and Human Rights Ministry Tholib said here on Monday.

The office can also cater to people of West Sumatra Province, especially those living in places bordering the district, such as is Dharmasraya District.

Currently, three immigration offices for passport-making services in Jambi Province are spread in Jambi City, Kuala Tungkal West Tanjung Jabung District, and Kerinci District.

The regional office of the ministry is currently pursuing extensive outreach of the ministry's programs, including through making passport service available for villages that has been well-received. One of the programs was held in Kumpeh Village, Muarojambi District, for making Umrah passports for which they visited the residents' houses one by one.

The head of the Jambi Ministry of Law and Human Rights Office stated that to make the work program successful, they had worked with several stakeholders, including the media. He expected that the media could provide important information and address issues in the practice.

The level of interest among people in Jambi to acquire passports is quite high, especially with the reopening of Hajj and Umrah trips to Mecca.

"The impact on people looking to perform Umrah pilgrimage is high. They want to make passports in their respective areas," Tholib remarked.

With four immigration offices in Jambi Province, it will make supervision of foreigners in the region easier, as several large companies employ foreign workers.
