It (the PSSI transformation) is guided directly by FIFA
Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Youth and Sports stated that the transformation of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) is conducted under the supervision of the world's football governing body, FIFA.

Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali stated here on Monday that FIFA directly gives guidelines to PSSI to conduct transformation after the recent tragedy that struck in Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang District.

"It (the PSSI transformation) is guided directly by FIFA," he remarked.

Amali explained that the results of PSSI transformation would be apparent during the implementation of competitions. The PSSI will hold an Extraordinary Congress (KLB) in March 2023 to elect a general chairperson, deputy general chairperson, and members of the Executive Committee (Exco).

According to Amali, the government will not intervene in the implementation of the PSSI extraordinary congress. He ensured that the implementation of the congress would run in accordance with the FIFA statutes.

Amali noted that in line with the transformation of PSSI, the ministry will regulate the safety of supporters, which is a recommendation from the Joint Independent Fact-Finding Team (TGIPF).

However, for the safety of supporters, especially football supporters, the ministry also works with PSSI to coordinate with football clubs in Indonesia.

"In accordance with what is in the law, the development of supporters must also be organized. (They) Must have AD/ART (statutes and bylaws), membership, and so on. That is what we are pushing for, together with federations. We cannot do it alone," he remarked.

The PSSI has reported to FIFA that the extraordinary congress will be held on March 18, 2023, through letter 4452/ULN/537/X-2022 signed by the PSSI Secretary General.

Before the extraordinary congress, the PSSI also informed FIFA that there would be a congress to establish the Election Committee (KP) and the Election Appeal Committee (KBP) on January 7, 2023.
