"The Communication and Informatics Ministry will extend the required aid, while all policies and decisions will be carried out independently by the General Elections Commission (KPU)," Communication and Information Minister Johnny G. Plate noted.
Plate delivered the statement after inking a memorandum of understanding on information services for the 2024 general election and regional elections, in a press release received on Wednesday.
The ministry provided assistance to ensure an ethical, safe, responsible, and legal data exchange.
The ministry will task the Directorate General of Informatics Applications to test the capability and strength of encryption technology in all end-points and infrastructure operated by the commission.
"(This is) so that we would have adequate strength to withstand cyberattacks that strike at any time, every second, with various targets and objectives," the minister noted.

"Regarding the general election, the ultimum remedium is important, which we must consider together. Obviously, it must meet ethical standards, legal regulations, and follow procedures. Must collaborate extensively with law enforcement officials in the imposition of law enforcement, especially in cyberspace, he emphasized.
