The prices of all commodities are stable. We see that Pontianak and West Kalimantan have good inflation rate. We expect that it will continue to be reduced through ensured availability of affordable stocks
Pontianak, West Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto praised the Pontianak Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID), West Kalimantan, for controlling its food price inflation, considered the best in Kalimantan, with rate exceeding the national six-percent average.

After reviewing and providing assistance to vendors at the Flamboyan Market on Friday, the minister said he along with his entourage were visiting to prepare for a meeting with the central inflation team sometime in future.

"We also involve the TPID in Kalimantan and Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua," Hartarto noted.

During his visit, the minister was accompanied by Deputy Governor of West Kalimantan Ria Norsan and Pontianak Mayor Edi Rusdi Kamtono.

Based on his review, prices of commodities, such as onions, rice, oil, chicken, and eggs, at Flamboyan Market were still relatively stable. However, he expected that the inflation rate could be reduced by increasing food stocks.

"The prices of all commodities are stable. We see that Pontianak and West Kalimantan have good inflation rate. We expect that it will continue to be reduced through ensured availability of affordable stocks," he noted.

The Pontianak TPID bagged a prestigious national award at the 2022 TPID Awards, securing best position for control team in Kalimantan region.

The award is a form of appreciation to the team in controlling inflation in the region. The Best TPID trophy and charter were presented by Minister Hartarto at the 2022 Inflation Control Center and Regional Coordination Meeting in Surabaya, East Java, recently.

Pontianak Mayor Edi Rusdi Kamtono said the team's success in controlling inflation was the result of collaborative and extensive efforts with various parties, including the Bank of Indonesia representative for West Kalimantan. Their efforts range from routine coordination meetings, monitoring prices of staple goods in markets, market operations, and others.

“Thank God, the Pontianak Inflation Control Team has succeeded in controlling the inflation rate, so that it remains stable even though it is being hit by a global crisis," he noted.

The team involved people from the regional government, Bank of Indonesia, Logistics Indonesia, Pertamina, and other stakeholders in pursuing efforts to suppress the inflation rate.

They hosted coordination meetings with stakeholders to collect the latest information regarding the availability of basic commodities before they determined the steps to address it.

“The key to controlling inflation is maintaining the availability of basic commodities. Should these basic commodities be available, prices in the market will also be stable," he remarked.

This is not the first time that Pontianak received such an award. In the past few years, the inflation control team had also bagged a similar award at the national scope.
