"Big countries are currently in recession. We can still grow 5.72 percent in the third quarter," President Jokowi stated while addressing his supporters during the United Nusantara gathering held by Jokowi's Volunteers at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) here on Saturday.
Amid the global economic recession, several countries in the world are experiencing difficulties. Consequently, the prices of goods have doubled. Luckily, Indonesia can still control this uncertain economic situation, he affirmed.
Nevertheless, Jokowi reminded all parties to remain vigilant, as global recession is difficult to calculate and predict. Hence, all parties must continue to work hard in order to avoid an economic recession.
At the same time, attracting investors to the country is also important, as it could create several jobs.
"I urge that people in the areas where there is investment should support this," Jokowi remarked.
Investment automatically improves economic growth, as it absorbs labor, he remarked while citing as an example the existence of the Weda Bay industry in North Maluku that has an impact on economic growth by 27 percent in the area.
"There is nothing in the world like this, a province growing 27 percent," he noted.
Finally, the former mayor of Solo said that infrastructure development conducted since the last eight years will begin to be felt in the next five to 10 years.
"This is what we are preparing from now on, an important foundation for building our country into a developed country," Jokowi stated.
