Cianjur, W Java (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) deployed 50 motorbikes to deliver aid directly to earthquake victims, who lived in areas that were difficult to reach using a car in Cianjur District, West Java Province.

As quoted from a statement received on Saturday, Head of BNPB Lieutenant General Suharyanto reported that aid packages sent by motorbikes comprised ready-to-eat meal for three-day servings as well as blankets and mattresses.

"Motorbikes are used in logistics distribution to truly ensure that the residents' needs are fulfilled," he remarked.

On Friday (November 25, 2022), the BNPB distributed three thousand basic need packages, six thousand blankets, five thousand mattresses, 500 beds, 275 velbeds, one thousand cleaning equipment, 200 sets of refugee tents measuring 2x2 meters, and 10 generators.

Furthermore, the BNPB handed out 30 refugee tents, one thousand rolled up tents, two thousand basic need packages, five thousand blankets, five thousand mattresses, and two thousand cleaning kits on Saturday.

As of Saturday, the BNPB had recorded 73,693 refugees in 16 sub-districts throughout Cianjur District. In addition, 318 people had passed away, while 7,729 residents were injured.

The earthquake also caused damage to dozens of thousands buildings, including residents' houses, schools, worship places, and health facilities.

The Cianjur District Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has recorded damage to 58,049 houses, with 20,367 of them being lightly damaged, 12,496 houses being moderately damaged, and 25,186 homes being heavily damaged in the quake.

The disaster rattled Cianjur District at 1:21 p.m. Western Indonesia Standard Time (WIB) on Monday (November 21, 2022).

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the earthquake was felt at Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) V in Cianjur, MMI IV-V in Garut and Sukabumi, and MMI III in Cimahi, Lembang, Bandung, Cikalong Wetan, Rangkasbitung, Bogor, and Bayah.
