This knowledge-sharing forum is designed by adapting global training on developing a strategic partnership with Muslim leaders in the family planning aspect
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) organized a knowledge-sharing forum on family planning programs and reproductive health services with a delegation from the Philippines in Bandung, West Java.

"This knowledge-sharing forum is designed by adapting global training on developing a strategic partnership with Muslim leaders in the family planning aspect," BKKBN Deputy for Training, Research, and Development, Rizal M. Damanik, noted in a statement here on Tuesday.

The forum to share knowledge on reproductive health, family welfare, gender mainstreaming, and stunting prevention with delegates from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) authority is part of the South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC), he remarked.

The BKKBN official underlined that the forum, organized along with the Ministry of State Secretariat and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), aims to increase knowledge and understanding of the perspective of Islam on reproductive health and family welfare.

The roles of religious leaders and organizations in disseminating information on Islamic perspectives on reproductive health and family welfare were also discussed at the forum, Damanik added.

Meanwhile, a UNFPA representative in Indonesia, Anjali Sen, said that the forum also discusses the perspective of Islam on the response and prevention of violence against women and child marriage as well as the effective approach that religious leaders could apply to promote such agendas.

Moreover, the Ministry of State Secretariat's Foreign Cooperation Bureau Head, Noviyanti, stated that Indonesia, since 2016, has invited various countries to share knowledge on family planning programme development.

"The Ministry of State Secretariat has invited various countries to Indonesia to experience and share Indonesia's success story in developing its population and family planning programme," Noviyanti remarked.
