Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry unveiled the Indonesia Earthquake Hazard Deaggregation Map for Earthquake Resilient Infrastructure Planning and Evaluation at the PUPR Ministry's Auditorium here on Tuesday.

This deaggregation map book is expected to be usable by the broader public, especially in infrastructure planning for earthquake hazard mitigation and building structure evaluation based on potential disasters that occur in various Indonesian regions.

"It is expected to be a reference point and applied for the purpose of infrastructure handling implementation planning, specifically to reduce earthquake risk in Indonesia," ministry's Secretary General Mohammad Zainal noted at the unveiling event.

This book is complemented with technical standards and guidelines, and it provides infrastructure or building planning confidence that prioritizes safety and security.

On the same occasion, one of the book's authors, M. Asrurifak, said that the unveiled deaggregation map can be used across Indonesia and in all buildings.

"Thus, the book's formulation involved the Transportation Ministry for infrastructure and the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry for offshore building," he stated.

This map can be utilized for accurate building planning based on the earthquake potential in various regions, and it evaluates other buildings, such as monumental building.

This book was created on the basis of Indonesia's geographic location, including the fact that it is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire that makes earthquakes unavoidable.

In connection with this, earthquake danger risk reduction efforts are necessary by strengthening earthquake-resilient infrastructure.

In future, this deaggregation map will be unveiled at the PUPR Ministry's website and can be accessed by the general public free of charge.
