Golden Indonesia is the future and an opportunity
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy invited youngsters to play an active role in realizing Golden Indonesia 2045 or Indonesia as an advanced nation by 2045.

"Golden Indonesia is the future and an opportunity. To make it happen, the youth must take part in the development of Indonesia," Effendy remarked here Wednesday.

According to the minister, the youth must play a strategic role by increasing productivity and enthusiasm for the nation's progress and existence.

"Young people must have five basic skills, namely critical thinking, creative and innovative, communication skills, being able to collaborate, and having self-confidence," he stated.

The minister also called for youngsters to always bolster their achievements in order to realize a competitive generation.

Indonesia's vision for 2045 is to realize more equitable welfare for Indonesian society, better human resource quality, and become one of the top five economies globally.

"The achievement of Indonesia's vision is built with four pillars of development, comprising human resource development and the mastery of science and technology," he remarked.

Effendy noted that the other pillars comprised realizing sustainable and equitable economic development and strengthening national resilience and governance.

According to the Statistics Indonesia data, as of August 2022, the open unemployment rate had reached 5.86 percent of the total working-age population of 209.42 million people.

Some 9.4 percent of the open unemployment rate constitute diploma graduates and bachelor's degree holders. This figure decreased by 0.63 points, from 6.49 percent in August 2021.

Meanwhile, the government's efforts to alleviate poverty are getting better, Effendy stated.

"The number of poor people as of March 2022 reached 26.16 million, decreasing 1.38 million from 27.54 million in March 2021," he pointed out.

The number of poor people in 2021 was influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic that was impacting the economy.

"Young people (need to) take advantage of opportunities to continue to develop by having the ability to adapt and (the requisite) skills and expertise," he affirmed.
