Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is assisting micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) players in preparing to enter the endemic phase next year through digital training.

The ministry's head of the Digital Entrepreneurship Academy Working Group, Riza Azmi, stated on Thursday that next year, the digital training theme for MSMEs is "Towards the Endemic" with the title of "MSMEs Become More Advanced by Becoming More Digital."

The theme, which differs from this year's theme of "MSMEs Recover Together," is focused on MSMEs' post-pandemic economic recovery.

"This year, we are completing the target (of training) 60 thousand (MSMEs players) by collaborating with partners," he remarked.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is implementing a digital training program -- the Digital Talent Scholarship -- to produce human resources with digital skills. The program has eight academies, one of which is the Digital Entrepreneurship Academy.

The Digital Entrepreneurship Academy is aimed at helping MSME players to develop their businesses by using digital platforms. The program aligns with the government's goal of supporting MSMEs to level up.

Training for MSMEs players is deemed crucial, as the efforts do not stop at making MSMEs enter the digital ecosystem but also supporting them to make the most of digital platforms for the growth of their businesses amid the pandemic.

Research of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Ministry and e-commerce association iDEa, as quoted by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, showed that 75 percent of MSMEs that have entered digital marketplaces are facing challenges in maintaining characteristics, the after-sales aspect, and others.

MSMEs have also not fully utilized market access despite having entered the digital ecosystem. Hence, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has divided the Digital Entrepreneurship Academy training into three aspects.

The first aspect is strengthening the digital entrepreneurship mindset, the second is improving skills to use digital technology, and the third is improving abilities to use technology that can support digital entrepreneurship.

Providing training for MSME players is part of accelerating digital transformation and pushing the digital economy in Indonesia.
