This (award) is a significant recognition of Indonesian civilized society, in particular, which has so far advocated corruption eradication in Indonesia.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Former vice chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Erry Riyana Hardjapamekas, has received the highest award for corruption eradication from the Qatari government for his services as chief of the Indonesia Anti-Corruption Commission (KAKI).



"I appreciate the Qatari government (for the award) and hope the award will motivate (us) to work harder to encourage the coalition of the private sector in fighting against corruption," he said in a written statement released on Friday.



Qatari emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani conferred the Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award to Hardjapamekas in Doha on Thursday in recognition of his and KAKI's contributions to corruption eradication efforts.

Hardjapamekas and KAKI received the award in the category of “youth creativity and engagement.” The category seeks to recognize creativity and leadership in implementing activities or initiatives that have an impact on corruption eradication among the youth and the general public.



Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar, Ridwan Hassan, welcomed the award.

The Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award is given out every year on International Anti-Corruption Day to those contributing to global anti-graft campaigns.
