Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - The government of Bandung City, West Java, provided compensation to the family of the deceased First Adjunct Inspector (Aiptu) Agus Sofyan, who fell victim to a suicide bombing attack on Wednesday morning. (December 7).

Bandung Mayor said that the terror incident is a stain on the conducive situation in the city, particularly as it incurs a loss of human life.

"Representing the government of Bandung City, I express my utmost condolences. God Willing, (Sofyan died) in husnul khatimah (Muslim's good ending)," Mulyana stated here, Sunday.

The mayor handed over the compensation to Sofyan's family that was received directly by his wife, Siti Sarah at their family home in Sukawarna Village, Bandung.

Besides presenting the compensation, he also expressed gratitude for Sofyan's service in the Indonesian Police to maintain order and conduciveness in Bandung.

Meanwhile, Siti Sarah said that her husband was the figure who blocked the perpetrator.

"He stood at the back of the line (because of his) tall physique. His body blocked (the explosion) from other officers during the morning roll call," she said.

The deceased First Adjunct Inspector (Aiptu) Agus Sofyan left his wife and three sons, Alfachri Ibnu Sofyan, aged 16, Alfarizi Ibnu Sofyan, aged 12, and Alfikri Ibnu Sofyan, aged 10.

Chief of the West Java Regional Police Inspector General Suntana earlier noted that 11 people became the victims of the incident.

The suicide bombing injured 10 people, including nine police personnel and one civilian as well as claimed the life of a police officer.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator was confirmed dead at the location.

Chief of National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that the perpetrator was identified as Agus Sujarno a.k.a. Agus Muslim.

Sujarno was earlier arrested and sentenced to four years in prison for his involvement in the Cicendo bombing in 2017.

The national police chief remarked that Sujarno was affiliated with the terrorist group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD).
