Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) explored programs to develop the Center of Excellence International Knowledge Hub (CoE IKH) in Riau Islands Province.

"As we know, one of BKKBN's components is an international training and cooperation center where this center is tasked with promoting BKKBN at international forums," BKKBN Deputy for Training, Research, and Development Rizal Damanik stated here on Thursday.

According to Damanik, the program exploration activity aims to observe the progress in implementation of the Family Development, Population, and Family Planning (Bangga Kencana) Program in Riau Islands.

He noted that the Bangga Kencana Program goals will be presented at the international level, such as the South-South cooperation.

With its archipelagic region, implementation of the Bangga Kencana Program has been unique in Riau Islands.

Hence, BKKBN conducted a study on Riau Islands to learn and understand the region's characteristics that will become promotional sources for the Bangga Kencana Program at the global level.

"We already have eight centers of excellence, but in our observation, Riau Islands has a unique character and potential. As an archipelagic province, it has its own challenges and attractions in the efforts to implement the Bangga Kencana Program," Damanik remarked.

The province has clocked several achievements in terms of programs and public administration, he highlighted.

With the exploration of programs there, the BKKBN can promote the success of the Bangga Kencana Program at the international level and invite delegates from overseas to visit the region.

The Bangga Kencana Program makes the quality of family as the foundation of development. It is a follow-up to Presidential Regulation No. 72 of 2021 on the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction.

Through the program, BKKBN also encourages prospective brides and grooms to gain a better understanding of pre-conception and undergo health checks.

With the Elsimil application, the health status of future brides and grooms is arranged by name and by address, so that the intervention or treatment provided is more accessible and appropriate.
