We expect that customers can travel on a train happily, safely, and comfortably.Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has prepared 3,943 security officials from the company's internal cadres and external agencies for the upcoming Christmas and New Year holiday period.
They comprise 1,338 Railway Special Police (Polsuska) personnel, 2,202 security personnel, and 403 additional personnel from the military and the police who will collectively secure train operations for Christmas and New Year period.
The personnel have been tasked with securing trains, stations, and railroad tracks, KAI's public relations VP, Joni Martinus, informed in a statement issued on Friday.
The security onboard trains will be consistently maintained by Polsuska who have been tasked with ensuring the security of customers throughout their journey.
If customers face issues related to security, such as theft or sexual harassment, they must immediately report it to the conductor or Polsuska on duty to get immediate assistance.

"KAI is ready to provide support in legal action that will be taken by passengers who become victims of crimes in KAI service. We also urge fellow passengers to respect other passengers," Martinus said.
Intensive security will also be implemented at train stations during the 2022–2023 Christmas-New Year holidays.
Officials have been prepared to guide passengers during the boarding process, sterilize, and regulate customers' flow in each station zone and ensure the implementation of the health protocols based on regulations.
They have also been tasked with carrying out closed security operations at vulnerable stations and maintaining order to prevent crimes at stations.
KAI has also strengthened the monitoring of the threat of terrorism through the use of additional personnel, metal detectors, and inspection mirrors at certain major stations.
Security personnel have also been asked to guard railroad tracks that are vulnerable to criminal acts such as stone-throwing and sabotage.
"KAI is committed to improving monitoring and security during 2022–2023 Christmas and New Year. We expect that customers can travel on a train happily, safely, and comfortably," Martinus said.
KAI has determined the Christmas-New Year period to be from December 22, 2022, to January 8, 2023.
