The song is entitled Bersatu Kita Juara or United We Can Win, which is also the 2024 PON tagline.
"There were 14 (participants), including participants from outside North Sumatra and from Aceh, who submitted their works to the judges. We narrowed them down to the top five and then the top three, and the winner is Abi Nubli Qisthy," head of the North Sumatra Youth and Sports Office Tuahta Ramajaya Saragih said here on Wednesday.
The winner’s announcement took place on Wednesday, and a prize of Rp50 million in cash was symbolically handed over to Qisthy.
Saragih said that the competition followed the PON logo, mascot, and tagline competitions, whose winners have already been announced. Meanwhile, the theme song contest began at the end of November 2022 and the entries were judged in December.
With the announcement of the winning entry, the theme song will be handed over to the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) and PB PON, who will improve the lyrics and obtain inputs from many parties, such as the composer, before releasing it officially.
"This is an original work, and we will leave it to the competent composer to enrich this theme song," Saragih said.
Meanwhile, the general secretary of PB PON XXI/2024 for North Sumatra region, Afifi Lubis, said that his party will coordinate with central KONI to publicize the theme song through social media platforms, such as Instagram and TikTok, among others.
"There will be a pre-PON next year and several stages of athletes selection through championships. We will do dissemination of information there for North Sumatra to be a good host of PON 2024," Lubis informed.
