"Based on a World Bank study, around 70 percent of women in Indonesia are of the productive age group, which is 15-64 years," Moeldoko noted in a written statement received here on Friday.
Moreover, a 25-percent increase in women's participation in the labor industry in 2025 could help Indonesia's gross domestic product to grow by 2.9 percent, he pointed out.
Moeldoko also urged everyone to provide equal space for women to participate in development as well as to dismiss the stigma and discrimination against womankind that had been deeply ingrained in society.
"Public space is not only dominated by men. Women also have the same right to be seen in national development," he remarked.
He opined that focusing on a woman's role will encourage progress in Indonesia's development.
Moeldoko also encouraged women to seize the opportunity offered by digital economy to improve their welfare.
"Mother's Day must be a momentum for women's groups to become more empowered and prosperous by making the best out of the digital economy space," he remarked.
Moeldoko noted that some 37 million or 64.5 percent of MSMEs in Indonesia are owned and managed by women's groups.
"It is time for this group of women involved in MSME to conduct digital transformation, so they can (develop better)," Moeldoko concluded.
