Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - The Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, recorded 63,639 passenger departures on Christmas Day on Sunday (December 25, 2022).

The majority of the passengers were headed to Medan, Makassar, and Bali, senior manager, branch communication and legal, at the airport M. Holik Muardi informed here on Monday.

He said that the total number of passengers who departed and arrived at the airport on Christmas Day stood at 115,871.

"The movement of passengers at Soetta Airport on Christmas Day reached 115 thousand passengers and 63,639 of them were departing passengers," he said.

Meanwhile, the number of passenger arrivals on Christmas Day reached 52,232.

Muardi further said that the 115 thousand passengers were cumulatively recorded at Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3 of the airport.

The number of passengers reached 22,563 at Terminal 1, 39,023 at Terminal 2, and 54,285 at Terminal 3, he expounded.

The number of passengers registered an increase of 19 percent at Terminal 1, 34 percent at Terminal 2, and 47 percent at Terminal 3, he informed.

Earlier, the Transportation Ministry said that the total number of public transport passengers recorded in the period from December 19 to December 24, 2022, was 3,945,489.

"The number increased by 32.98 percent as compared to the Christmas-New Year's Day holiday transportation movement during the same period in 2021, during which 2,644,196 passengers were recorded," the ministry's spokesperson, Adiba Irawati, informed in Jakarta on Sunday.

According to the seven-day data collected from the ministry's transportation observation posts, the highest cumulative number of passengers was recorded among air passengers at 1,178,678, she said.

The number of air passengers for the year-end holidays this year increased by 19.98 percent compared to 943,095 in the same period of last year, the spokesperson added.
