Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - A joint team of at least 4,173 personnel will secure the visit of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his entourage to Sumbawa Island, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Thursday (December 29, 2022) morning.

"The joint personnel assigned for this security activity come from elements of the National Defense Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri)," Chief of information of the Regional Military Command 162/Wira Bhakti Major Asep Okinawa Muas said here on Wednesday.

The 4,173 joint personnel will also include supporting personnel from the government drawn from the Public Order Security Agency (Satpol PP) and the Transportation Office.

To check security readiness, the Commander of 162/Wira Bhakti Regional Military Command, Brigadier General Sudarwo Aris Nurcahyo, carried out a routine review of the personnel in the courtyard of the Bima District Head's Office, Muas informed.

Because it is the President, the security activity falls in the VVIP category.

As part of the preparation, Nurcahyo inspected the readiness of personnel and all security supporting infrastructure. In addition, he explained the President's purpose in visiting NTB.

Based on information from the Presidential Staff, on Thursday morning, Widodo will visit three districts/cities.

As part of his agenda, he will visit traditional markets and permanent residential buildings in Bima district and Bima city, and inaugurate Beringin Sila dam, a national strategic project in Sumbawa District.

Nurcahyo asked all personnel on duty to provide maximum security so that the President's activities can run safely and smoothly.

For maximum security, all personnel have been asked to maintain coordination with all elements of security and also the community.

The President's visit will focus on the Sumbawa, Bima, and Dompu areas.

Meanwhile, President Widodo, First Lady Iriana, and their entourage arrived at Sultan Muhammad Salahuddin Airport, Bima, around 5:06 p.m. local time.
