Immigration services must be in line with the spirit of facilitating business conduct in Indonesia.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Law and Human Rights Minister has instructed the Directorate General of Immigration to learn about Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) Number 2 of 2022 regarding Job Creation to ease the conduct of business.

"Immigration services must be in line with the spirit of facilitating business conduct in Indonesia," Minister Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly said here on Wednesday.

The measure must be undertaken while following the criteria for maintaining the sovereignty, order, and security of the country as well as protecting national interests, he added.

"This is as mandated in Perppu No. 2 of 2022 about Job Creation," he said.

President Joko Widodo signed the regulation, which replaces Law Number 11 of 2020 on Job Creation, on December 30, 2022.

The issuance of the government regulation cannot be separated from the Ukraine and Russia war, which has affected countries on a grand scale, including Indonesia, putting them at risk of inflation, stagflation, multi-sector crises, rising interest rates, geopolitical issues, and food crises.

Given the urgency, the government has issued the regulation to anticipate the worst that could happen to the national economy.

The minister also instructed the directorate general led by Silmy Karim to coordinate with other ministries and agencies on the golden visa policy to attract investors and global talent.

He also reminded them to follow up on improving the visa on arrival (VoA) and limited stay permit (ITAS) services, minimizing illegal levies, and developing immigration services at airports catering to international direct flights.

He also directed them to pursue immigration services that support the conduct of business in Indonesia while adhering to the criteria aimed at maintaining sovereignty, order, state security, and national interests.
