It is important to have this stakeholder forum...not only for the interests of global water politics, but also for the national political interests on water resources.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry held the National Stakeholders Forum (NSF) to drum up support from international stakeholders for the 10th World Water Forum in Bali on May 18–24, 2024.

"This third (NSF) forum aims to formally disseminate the plan for the (10th World Water Forum) event to international stakeholders and discuss various strategic challenges regarding water management," Secretary General of the PUPR Ministry Mohammad Zainal Fatah said here on Thursday.

He made the statement during the third announcement of the 10th World Water Forum, which was attended by the representatives of a number of international organizations, embassies of friendly countries, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and international media.

Earlier, another NSF had been held to disseminate information on the implementation of the 10th World Water Forum to domestic stakeholders, such as the government, universities, non-governmental organizations, community groups, business players, academics, and others, he said.

Meanwhile, Environment and Forestry (LHK) Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar said that the implementation of the NSF was expected to allow stakeholders to provide inputs concerning the themes of discussion for the 10th World Water Forum.

"It is important to have this stakeholder forum because there are several themes that I think are good (to be discussed), not only for the interests of global water politics, but also for the national political interests on water resources," she added.

The NSF was held to follow up on the signing of a framework agreement between the World Water Council and the Indonesian government in November 2022 to formally begin the series of implementations of the 10th World Water Forum.

The agenda of the third NSF included an announcement of the national organizing committee (NOC) for the forum, as stipulated in the Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 1 of 2023 concerning the national organizing committee for the 10th World Water Forum in 2024.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan will serve as the general chairperson of the committee.

Meanwhile, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and Bali Governor I Wayan Koster will be the daily chairperson and daily deputy chairperson of the committee, respectively.

The third NSF also aimed to outline the road map for the implementation of the 10th World Water Forum, invite stakeholders to actively participate in making the event a success, as well as help the stakeholders to formulate better water resources management.
