Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-run tourism holding PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia or InJourney has tied up with restaurants and cafés around Lake Toba, North Sumatra province, for holding public viewings of the F1 Powerboat (F1H2O) World Championship.

With the involvement of restaurants and cafés as public viewing spots, visitors will have many optional locations to watch the racing event from, director of the marketing and tourism program of InJourney, Maya Watono, said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Earlier, her party prepared the grandstand and Pahoda Hill as venues for spectators to watch the event.

"However, to accommodate the high enthusiasm of the public (toward this event), we are cooperating with cafés and restaurants around Lake Toba to become optional public viewing locations that can accommodate around (a total of) 10 thousand spectators," she informed.

According to InJourney, the tickets for the grandstand and Pahoda Hill sold-out within 23 minutes on February 7, 2023.

Hence, the company, as the organizer of the F1H2O, began assessing and selecting cafés and restaurants around Lake Toba as public viewing locations.

Currently, there are 21 selected cafés and restaurants. The public can check out the name, capacity, as well as persons in charge (PIC) of the restaurants and cafés at loket.com site.

For reservations, prospective spectators can contact the PIC of each restaurant and café.

InJourney's attempt to organize public viewing at cafés and restaurants around the lake also aims to introduce and promote local culinary delights to tourists, thus the racing event can generate an economic impact on the local business players and community.

"InJourney is committed to involving local communities, business actors, and MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) in every tourism activity, thus they can get economic benefits from the event,” Watono remarked.

She said she expected the powerboat racing event to become a showcase for business players and MSMEs around Lake Toba for marketing their culinary products to make them more popular.

Furthermore, she also expressed the hope that the F1H2O event, which will be held on February 24 to 26, 2023, will run successfully and improve the image of Indonesia on the global stage.
