The enthusiasm (of the spectators) was extraordinary.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Two categories of tickets for the F1 Powerboat (F1H2O) Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) World Championship have sold out, Director of the Marketing and Tourism Program of state-owned tourism holding InJourney Maya Watono has said.
The event will be held in Lake Toba, North Sumatra province, on February 25–26, 2023.
"The enthusiasm (of the spectators) has been extraordinary. Earlier, when we opened the ticket sales for the grandstand at the race venue, they sold out in 23 minutes," Watono informed at a talk show on “The Role of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ahead of the F1 Powerboat H2O Event,” here on Wednesday.
Earlier, InJourney had opened ticket sales for two ticket categories.
The first category was for the race venue grandstand located on the Sisingamangaraja Field at Mulia Raja Napitupulu Port, Lake Toba, with a two-day pass priced at Rp500 thousand.
The second category was for public viewing at Pahoda Hill, Toba district, North Sumatra province, with a two-day pass priced at Rp50 thousand.
Watono said that InJourney readied 2,100 tickets for the race venue on the field and 4 thousand tickets for public viewing on the hill, with 4 thousand tickets selling out in 23 minutes.
Since most of the tickets have been sold, her company is planning to offer 10 thousand more public viewing tickets at select hotels and cafés in the surrounding area.
Furthermore, InJourney is considering the possibility of opening offline sales for another 500 tickets on February 20.
Watono has said that the implementation of the powerboat racing event can also support the government’s program to promote the five super-priority tourism destinations (DPSPs)—Lake Toba, Borobudur Temple, Mandalika, Labuhan Bajo, and Manado-Likupang areas.
"Our effort, especially from SOE InJourney, has been extraordinary to advance Indonesian tourism, especially in the five priority destinations, according to the government's program,” she said.
The preparation for the implementation of the F1H2O event in Lake Toba presented several challenges, including in the establishment of the circuit and grandstands, as this is the first time Lake Toba is hosting the event, she added.
