All of us are collaborating and striving to make the spectators comfortable and serve them well.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali stated that weather modification will be conducted to support the implementation of the F1 Powerboat (F1H2O) World Championship.
In a statement received on Wednesday, the minister stated that the attempt aimed at anticipating bad weather during the event to be held in Lake Toba, North Sumatra Province, on February 24-26, 2023.
Amali noted that weather modification will be conducted by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) as well as Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
Meanwhile, other ministries and related institutions also continue to strengthen their coordination to make the event a success.
“All of us are collaborating and striving to make the spectators comfortable and serve them well. Hopefully, it will not rain (on the D-Day),” the minister remarked.
Furthermore, Amali, who is concurrently the head of the Lake Toba F1H2O Implementation Committee, stated that a test event will be held two days prior to the racing event.
Earlier, Head of Toba District Poltak Sitorus emphasized that several technical aspects should be prepared ahead of the championships, such as managing the shipping activities around the racing venue.
Mulia Raja Napitupulu Port and the Sisingamangaraja field, Toba District, are the main locations for implementation of the event.
“We have shifted (the shipping activities) to the Lumban Gaol area, including the merchant ships. The racing venue will also be cleared of trash soon,” Sitorus stated.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Tourism and Creative Economy Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment Odo R. M. Manuhutu also highlighted the provision of adequate access to the venue.
“Public viewing places, which are not complying with security regulations, should be closed. We also hope for fine weather during the implementation of the event. We also hope that the cleanliness (of the venue) would always be maintained,” he remarked.
Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno stated that Lake Toba was chosen as the venue for the race owing to its scenic beauty and diverse culture as one of the five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSPs) in Indonesia.
The event is targeted to draw 25 thousand spectators.
