According to its official website, IISMA is a scholarship scheme for Indonesian students to join a one-semester mobility program at leading universities and reputable industries overseas.
The ministry's Acting Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology Nizam stated here on Thursday that the participation of Go8 universities is a strategic step to improve the quality of research and education of the two countries.
"The ministry welcomes the participation of Australia's group of leading educational institutions Go8 in the IISMA 2023 program," he stated.
The Go8 comprises the Australian National University, the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales, the University of Queensland, Monash University, the University of Western Australia, and the University of Adelaide.
The participation of Go8 in the program is a step toward strengthening cooperation in education between Indonesia and Australia.

Cooperation with the Go8 universities is expected to be a giant leap in the improvement of education quality, cultural exchange, and diplomacy between both nations.
Nizam assessed that hopes ride high, as the eight universities are included in the list of the world's top 150 universities according to the assessment of the 2023 QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education.
He said that through the cooperation, the Australian Government is also optimistic that prospective participants of IISMA 2023 would enrich themselves with experiences, knowledge, and practical skills to help Indonesian students meet workforce needs.
Trade and Investment Commissioner at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) Rod Commerford stated that the participation of Go8 universities in the program has reflected that it is of quality and has an important meaning for higher education institutions in Australia.
"The Australian Government welcomes the choosing of the Go8 as the mobility destination of IISMA 2023 scholarship awardees," Commerford stated.
