Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government is prioritizing special food assistance for babies and toddlers at the evacuation sites for the Pertamina Plumpang fire victims in North Jakarta.

“We are prioritizing food assistance for babies and toddlers,” Jakarta acting governor Heru Budi Hartono said at the Rasela Child-Friendly Public Space (RPTRA), which is being used as a shelter, here on Saturday.

According to Hartono, toddlers at evacuation sites need special foods, while adults can get food at public kitchens.

The provincial government is collaborating with related parties to provide special foods for toddlers at evacuation tents.

Meanwhile, North Jakarta's social office unit has prepared instant food at the public kitchen on Kramat Jaya Street, Tugu Utara village, Koja, in North Jakarta.

A total of 62 officers have been assigned to assist in making instant food amounting to 2,600 boxes, which will be distributed thrice a day over the next three days.

In addition to setting up public kitchens, the North Jakarta social office has also distributed 20 sheets of tarpaulin, 19 mattresses, 100 blankets, 60 boxes of biscuits, and 3 tents.

"All the needs have been distributed. Sanitation (facilities) are ready at the local health center, the sports complex, residents' homes, and the environment office. We are providing bathrooms and toilets. More toilets will come from the environment office," he informed.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor of North Jakarta, Djuaeni, said that 10 temporary evacuation sites have been prepared to accommodate residents whose homes have been affected by the fuel pipe fire.

He informed that there are about 1,369 evacuees in total, including adults, children, and toddlers.

Based on data as of 9 a.m. on Saturday, 49 fire victims were undergoing medical treatment at 5 different hospitals.

Meanwhile, based on data provided by the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), the death toll reached 17, consisting of 15 adults and 2 children.
