The government encourages MSME players to exhibit their flagship products at national- and international-scale events to boost marketing and salesJakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno stated that after the COVID-19 pandemic, his ministry is focusing on programs oriented towards Indonesia's economic recovery.
"Government's post-pandemic policies are directed at achieving targets in the tourism and creative economy sectors so that they have an impact on improving the community's economy and creating the widest range of job opportunities," he noted here on Thursday.
For 2023, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has set several targets, such as achieving 3.4 million to 7.4 million international tourist arrivals, around 1.2 billion to 1.4 billion domestic tourist trips, as well as improving Indonesia's rank in the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) to be at 29-35.
The ministry is also targeting the number of workers in the tourism sector to reach 21.93 million and workers in the creative economy sector to reach 22.59 million.
Moreover, foreign exchange earnings from tourism are targeted to reach US$2.07 billion to US$5.95 billion, the tourism sector's contribution to the GDP is targeted to reach 4.10 percent, and the value of creative economy products' exports is targeted at US$26.46 billion.
Meanwhile, the added value of the creative economy is projected to reach Rp1,279 trillion (around US$82.68 billion).
The achievement of the targets is pursued with the 3G (Gercep, Geber, Gaspol) strategy of swift action, joint movement, and making the most of potential, as well as the spirit of innovation, adaptation, and collaboration that are promoted by the ministry.
According to Uno, the revocation of the public activity restrictions (PPKM) policy in December 2022 was the starting point for the revival of the tourism and creative economy sectors after the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
To this end, the government is encouraging tourism and creative players, most of whom are micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) players, to revive with digitalization programs and encourage MSMEs to level up to become corporations or legal entities.
In addition, the government is committed to improving the quality of MSME players through upskilling, reskilling, and new skilling programs, so that they can develop their businesses and open business and job opportunities.

The ministry will also continue to assist tourism and creative economy players through the strengthening of domestic tourism attractiveness, incentive and promotion programs, human resource quality improvement, and subsidies.
